Where the literature goes

ICP has offices and printing facilities in Texarkana, Arkansas, and in the Philippines, Kenya and Myanmar. From those presses the literature travels out to churches across Asia, Africa and eastern Europe.

Written here. Translated there. Printed there. Taught by them.

ICP writers write the lessons in English. Translators who belong to the churches we serve render them into their own language, because someone who worships in that language will get it right in a way an outsider cannot. The books are then printed on ICP presses in the country itself and carried to the churches, who teach them in Bible classes for children. Every link in that chain is local except the first.

Philippines

A press of our own

Dedicated in April 2023, the ICP and His Offspring Ministry building sits on a one-acre campus at the edge of San Fernando, Pampanga. It holds a warehouse, a printshop, an office and a three-bedroom apartment for guests who come to work with the ministry. It is why Character Code for Life and God's Character and Me can be printed in the country that reads them.

Project Director Florence Paguio runs the press. This year he has printed enough of Character Code for Life Module 3 for twelve thousand students, to go out with VBS sample kits to more than two hundred churches at the annual Bible conference.

The work is not only literature. After Super Typhoon Haiyan, ICP was first onto Malocobac Island with rice, shoes and other necessities, and a Baptist church was planted there as a result. Volunteers have carried five thousand kilos of rice to 422 households near the office, and the ministry keeps helping schoolchildren with milk feedings and hygiene kits.

Teaching the teachers

Jacob Tubal, ICP Project Director in Myanmar, grew up in the children's home this ministry supports. He now leads the translation work, and his wife Priscilla translates into Falam Chin, the birth language of their people. It is the first time anything has been rendered into that language.

Character Code for Life was the first curriculum many of these churches had ever had. About two hundred teachers now teach from it. In one recent two-week stretch Jacob put Character Code for Life and VBS materials into the hands of more than five hundred children, and a summer church camp drew over 270 children and teens.

ICP also sponsors and funds a missionary training school in Myanmar, which has sent out missionaries who plant and strengthen Baptist churches across the country. A ministry building is now going up near Yangon: office, printshop, storage, an assembly hall for Bible conferences, and a home for Jacob and his family.

Kenya and East Africa

Two presses and two translators

Moses Wanjala has been translating ICP materials for about twenty years. He and Titus now run two small digital presses, printing Character Code for Life and the VBS series, then travelling to distribute the literature and train the volunteers who will teach it.

They held children's camps and Bible schools across the country last year, from Kakamega in the west to the Rift Valley, giving sixty copies to each church that came. They are translating The Value of a Godly Family into Swahili, and taking care to use pictures of African children and families so that the children reading it can see themselves in it.

From Kenya the literature crosses borders. ICP now reaches the children of churches in four African countries: Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

And onward from there

Once a translation exists, it travels wherever that language is spoken.

Printed in Kenya

South Sudan

Seventeen churches asked for teaching and discipleship resources. The Kenya team printed Character Code materials for 1,200 children and sent them north in time for the churches' own programs.

Swahili

Tanzania and Uganda

The Swahili translation carries across the border. Working through churches and missionaries, ICP has provided thousands of Bible study booklets to the children of these countries.

Russian

Belarus

All six modules of Character Code for Life are translated into Russian, teacher materials and all. Four thousand copies of God's Character and Me, Module 1, are being printed for the Baptist churches of Belarus.

Romanian

Romania

ICP materials are prepared for translation into Romanian, a work with deep roots here: our vice president John Sanders and his wife Sharon served as missionaries in Romania for ten years.
